Washington is an important city, not only because it is the capital of the USA, but because it has a lot of unforgettable places to visit, that without a doubt I too would like to see.

If you only have 48 hours to visit the city, you can do the 6.5km route that takes you around the monuments, starting at Capitol Hill and finishing in the National Cemetery or Arlington. Visiting Washington, even for only 48 hours is an experience that everyone must experience in their life time.
The first place that you must visit is Capitol Hill. The tickets are free, but not only this one, almost all the monuments in Washington are free. I would also recommend taking guided visits at the monuments, both to make the most of your trip and find out about Washington’s very important history. Another monument that you can visit in these days is the statue of George Washington situated in Capitol Hill too.

The National Mall is also really spectacular to see. It consists of a number of gardens distributed around the centre. Another important place to visit is The National Museum of Air and Space. Inside they have the biggest collection of planes and special naves in the entire world.
Another special monument that you should visit is the impressive national monument dedicated to the Second World War. The emotions that you feel when you see it are indescribable. At the end of this trip, you have to visit the Monument dedicated to Lincoln. This building is similar to a Greek temple – the outside is surrounded by grand pillars and on the inside there is the amazing sculpture of the former president of the United States of America, Abraham Lincoln. It was created by Daniel Chester. The tickets for entry are free, like the other monuments.

On the last day you could visit the National Cemetery. It has important tombs, like the tomb of JFK. From here you can also see the White House, probably the most famous place in Washington. Unfortunately you can only see this spectacular building from afar as the public are not allowed to enter.
If you decide to visit Washington you will have one of the best experiences in all your life. This city is maybe the most impressive in the entire world!
