New Zealand in November: What To See and Do!
If you’re never been to New Zealand but are planning to go soon, you are in for a real treat! And if you have had the pleasure already but are going back for more…well, you already know the deluge of fun to be had and that’s why you’re returning. Morning, noon, and night there are events galore and throughout the month of November you can choose from all kinds of experiences. From the casual and creepy to the collaborative and cultural, New Zealand is a host of many things marvellous.
Here are just a few of the exciting events happening this month:
Pacific Rose Bowl Festival: November 12-15
Come visit the Rogers Rose Garden, an internationally recognised rose garden. You can view the finalists for the New Zealand Rose of the Year and vote for your favourite! All contenders are clearly marked so children can participate, as well. Roses from around the world have been entered into this contest, including some from France, Germany, Holland, and Ireland. Your votes could be the deciding factors on which roses win the Pacific Rose Bowl Trophy and the title of New Zealand Rose of the Year.
November 12-15 in Kaitaia, November 20-21 in Kaikohe
Bringing you its fourth tour of New Zealand, Zirka Circus presents their newest show “Cross the Ocean”! For more than six years Zirka has combined over 20 performing arts, theatre, show, and optical illusions to bring you a unique circus experience. Full of daredevil acts, acrobatic beauty, and stunts that will leave you in awe, Zirka promises to entertain you and your family without animals so you can enjoy the fun completely guilt-free.
Rotorua Festival of Gardens: November 13-15
This year marks the 11th year of the biennial festival, and features many new gardens in addition to the classic favourites. There are over 45 lush gardens to peruse on your self-guided tour and you choose which ones you want to visit at any time over the course of the 3-day festival. Oamaru’s Network Waitaki Victorian Fete: November 15
Step back in time and experience Victorian life first-hand! Take in musicians, singers, and dancers from around the world. Shop at the dozens of high quality boutique stalls lining the streets. Find your inner child as you stand in awe of the Victorian costumes and Alice in Wonderland costume parade! You will fall right down that rabbit hole yourself as you get lost in the jugglers, street performers, magicians, and stilt walkers! Meet the Tea Maker: November 15
This edition of Meet the Maker highlights Adam and Sarah from Fine & Dandy Co. Come enjoy an afternoon high tea in the grand ballroom of historic Alberton House and meet these two passionate tea makers. As you taste their teas, find out what sets the organic and fairtrade Fine & Dandy teas apart from the rest. Japanese Film Festival 2015: November 16-20
Enjoy these five films that explore Japanese life and culture! A different movie will be shown every day, highlighting a different director each time. Admission is free so don’t miss this opportunity! No reservations are required and all films will include English subtitles. Check the website for titles, times, and other information.
Enjoy 30 different beers and wines with ambassadors and winemakers as you sample West Coast Whitebait cooked a multitude of ways. Marton Market Day: November 28
Marton Market Day brings the streets to life with over 200 stalls of high quality arts, crafts, local food and produce, and tons of unique gifts in historic rural New Zealand. With live entertainment, competitions and activities galore, there’s something for everyone in the family to enjoy. There will also be hot rods on display and a chance to win a prize.
